What to do when you’re in self-isolation?

We all know that this is a big global event, and everyone is in the same situation. To help keep yourself sane while you can’t get out on the tracks, we’ve got some great ideas on upgrades that you can do at home to get your rig adventure-ready for when we get through all of this.

Set up some new lights

If your current lighting set up is looking a bit tired, now’s the time to install some new lighting on your vehicle. LED lightbars and LED spotlights are an easy thing that you can add to your 4WD to keep your world lit up on those night drives.

Another great idea is setting up some work lights or camp lighting so you’ve got light when you’ve made it to your destination.

Add a solar panel

Solar power is the best way to keep your electrics charged and ready when you’re away from home. Think about adding a solar panel to your roof or roof rack for extra charging when you’re driving, or simple wire in plugs for a folding solar panel for when you’re stopped.

Set up a second battery system

An auxiliary battery lets you run your electrics without running your cranking battery down too far to start your car. Depending on the system you want, battery type and budget, you can use everything from a simple 12V battery isolator to a full DC-DC charger system.

Get your garage (or shed) organised

This one is something that we all can do. I don’t think I’ve seen many garages that couldn’t use a more organised storage system and more toolboxes. Spend some time sorting things out and see what you can do to use the space better.

Remember, we’re all in this together

If you’re ever feeling down, the best thing to do is reach out to your Friends and family. A simple phone call can do a lot to lift your spirits these days, so remember to keep in touch with the people that you love.
